There are several outfitters serving the Huron River. Heavner, Village, Skip’s, Argo, Gallup and Motor City offer paddling equipment for rent with transportation to the drop-off point or pick-up point. Some offer transportation for private boats and paddlers for a fee when contacted in advance.
Heavner Canoe & Kayak Rental, Milford
They offer flat water paddling on both Proud Lake and Kent Lake and 1 to 6 hour river trips to into Milford and locations in Kensington Metropark. Also available are moonlight paddles and paddles to Milford summer concerts.
Village Canoe Rental, Milford
Located in Milford (on the east side of town). They offer trips from Milford downstream to multiple locations in Kensington Metropark, provide transportation upriver to Proud Lake State Recreation Areas for a paddle back to the livery.
NautiMI on the River, Pinckney (Portage Chain of Lakes)
Dry goods and ice creamery that also offers kayak, paddle board and canoe rentals and classes for flat water paddling on the Portage Chain of Lakes. For $10 per boat, you can launch your own (limited on site parking). No transportation provided.
Argo Canoe Livery, Ann Arbor
Operated by City of Ann Arbor, is located on the north side of Ann Arbor. They offer flat water paddling on Argo Pond, tubing on the cascades, transportation upriver to Delhi Metropark and Barton Park and transportation back from Gallup Park. Universal access launch available.
Gallup Canoe Livery, Ann Arbor
Operated by City of Ann Arbor, located on the west side of Ann Arbor. Facilities include an accessible dock and a café. They offer flat water paddling on Gallup Pond, transportation upriver to Barton Park for a paddle back to the livery. Universal access launch available.
Motor City Canoe Rental Oakwoods Outpost, New Boston
Canoe and kayak rental and transportation for 2 to 6 hour trips on the Lower Huron River from their outpost at Oakwoods Metropark. Tubing and row boats available. A transportation only option for personal equipment is available.
